Desert, not to be confused with Dessert, because they are totally different
Okay, so the desert is not the most exciting thing to me, but the kids had a good time leaning about it. :) We talked about what makes a desert a desert and what we might find there (or here, since we live in one). The kids loved adding real sand to the desert pictures that they were coloring. We also talked about all the desert animals that live here. (Paytyn kept yelling out "camels!" :) I had to explain that camels do live in the desert, but a different desert, far away. "like Egypt" she said. Yep, that's right :)
The kids played a number sequencing game with cacti. They worked great together and were very fast at putting them in the right order.
(The pics are not downloading.... Sorry, I will try again in a bit.)

Farm Week
We had a fun week! We learned all about farms and all the animals that live there. We focused one day on pigs. The kids enjoyed painting some "mud" on their pigs after they colored them.
The kids used markers to trace the lines on their farms. Markers are a special treat at preschool. :)
They had a great time filling their farms with yummy snacks and toys.

Once upon a time...
This was our fairy tale week.
On Tuesday we read the story of "The Princess and the Pea." The kids had to find all the hidden items in all the mattresses that the princess slept on.
On Wednesday we read the story "Jack and the Beanstalk." We also watched a short version of "Mickey and the Beanstalk." The kids made their own little story books by putting the sequence pictures in order. We also played a "magic bean" counting game.
On Thursday our fairy tale story was "The 3 Little Pigs." We talked about the 3 different brothers and what they made their houses out of and why. We also read another version of the story "The true story of the 3 little pigs," which is the wolfs version. :) The kids did a good job of making the 3 pigs houses.

Camp Out
This week we went on a "picnic" and a "camp out." What a great week. The kids loved having a pretend picnic and playing some memory games. The kids worked hard at finding the differences between our 2 picnic papers. We also talked about camping: what we need when we go camping and what we might see when we are camping. They loved going camping in my backyard. We "slept" in the tent, ate smores, chopped wood and even saw a bear. :) It was fun! We also listened to my favorite camping story "Just me and my dad" (little critter).

My pretty Garden
This week we talked about fruits and vegetables. We learned that they start from a tiny seed and grow into something yummy! :) The kids enjoyed trying different fruits, vegetables and seeds for snack time. We also had a fun time making our own little gardens and labels to take home.
